Este es un corto documental donde explicamos el enfoque de nuestro trabajo de campo. Consideramos que el futuro de la danta de monta\u00f1a depende de la conservaci\u00f3n de extensas \u00e1reas de bosque montano y p\u00e1ramos. Pero como los ecosistemas andinos est\u00e1n continuamente sufriendo procesos de fragmentaci\u00f3n, es imperativo mantener la conectividad entre los \u00faltimos refugios de la danta de monta\u00f1a en los bosques andinos por encima de los 2400 metros. En nuestro proyecto piloto llevado a cabo en San Agust\u00edn Huila, trabajamos junto con las comunidades locales en la identificaci\u00f3n de las mejores alternativas para la conservaci\u00f3n de la danta de monta\u00f1a y los beneficios para las personas. Los antiguos cazadores y otros miembros de las comunidades locales hab\u00edan cambiado su percepci\u00f3n sobre la vida silvestre y ahora entienden la importancia de proteger y conservar los tapires de monta\u00f1a y otras especies como el oso de anteojos y el puma. Este documental fue transmitido en el principal canal p\u00fablico de televisi\u00f3n de Colombia. Ahora la gente de todo el pa\u00eds conoce detalles sobre el trabajo de los grupos comunitarios de monitoreo de vida silvestre, como la Asociaci\u00f3n Huellas del Macizo, nuestro socio local en el Proyecto Corredor de la Danta Puragu\u00e1, nuestra iniciativa piloto en Colombia<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Las comunidades locales del municipio de San Agust\u00edn, en el sur de los Andes colombianos, se interesaron por sus recursos naturales, y luego se involucraron en la vigilancia de la biodiversidad utilizando c\u00e1maras trampa.
